C. INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS.
Our company specialises in advice on the Terms of Reference and implementation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) required as part of the planning procedure required for major industrial projects worldwide.
We specialise in eco-audit procedures required to monitor the impact of major projects worldwide. This work protects our clients from exploitation of sites where subsequent development might result in exposure to liability for environmental damage. Our senior staff are registered Environmental Assessors with the U.K. Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment. Our staff are internationally recognised experts in their own fields, and can give authoritative advice and represent clients as Expert Witnesses at Public Inquiry or in the event of litigation.
Case History: Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd. was commissioned to carry out a full appraisal of environmental resources in the vicinity of a proposed major chemical complex to be constructed on the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia. By working closely with the Malaysian Department of the Environment, the company drew up detailed terms of reference for identifying those environmental resources requiring protection in the vicinity of the development. It was also able to interact closely with the client on specific measures to reduce the risk of environmental damage after construction of the plant. The client was required to operate to high standards to meet regulatory requirements and to comply with parent company policy: also to ensure project approval with minimum delay. Following commissioning of the plant, Marine Ecological Surveys Ltd. was retained to carry out twice-yearly audits. The subsequent performance of the plant was of such a standard that the client was awarded the prestigious Malaysian "Better Environment Award" for excellence in the Chemical Industry Sector.
